What’s it about?

Workplace privacy describes the extent to which employers monitor and collect information on the activities, communications and private lives of workers.

Personal information can be sensitive in nature, for example, information about a person’s health, sexuality, religious beliefs, criminal record, professional or trade union memberships. Commonwealth privacy laws set a higher standard for collecting and handling sensitive personal information.

This short course has been developed by subject matter experts to educate employees, employers and students about workplace privacy and associated compliance requirements at workplace.

 

In this course you will learn about –

  • What is workplace privacy and what does it include?
  • What constitutes personal information?
  • Can private information be disclosed to a third party?
  • What are Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988)?

The course aims to equip the learner with basic knowledge of workplace privacy in relation to workplace compliance.
